My Scholarship entry - My Kind of Adventure

Inspired by a story about world traveler John Goddard three years ago and armed with a Canon Powershot, in 2009 I started my journey in Japan as a video blogger, making “Jamaican in Japan” videos to expose aspects of my life there. Trips to Egypt and Korea helped me gain insights into delivery and understanding workflows; while exposing me to more people and cultures and at the same time reinforcing my drive to keep sharing whatever I was able to produce within my means.
I find people tremendously interesting, and in my work I love to expose art, music, musicians, great party scenes and the occasional exotic destination. The chance to break exciting new ground and be mentored by an established filmmaker in Brazil is quite inspiring. Winning this scholarship would give me a chance to develop an improved ability to weave stronger and more congruent narratives in short films, while giving me insights into a new culture and challenging me to grow as a filmmaker. A traveller's biggest limitation is usually financial, and it would be amazing to be able to work freely in a state of pure creativity. I thankfully appreciate the consideration of the judging panel in my application.
