My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited: Bengali Stories

India | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos

For most of my life I never thought much about photography. In 2008 I did my first solo trip taking photos with my mobile phone. Back from the adventure in the Amazon, and all around South America, I decided to study photography at academic level, but still with the desire to travel around the world. This passion brought me in short trips to Egypt and India, trying to document through the lens the diversity, the cultures and the happenings in those countries.

It is based on the willingness to pursue my secret dream and become a travel photographer that I applied to this scholarship. Life is a learning curve and this opportunity to work with Jason is what any person like me can dream about, a chance to improve my skills and learn on the field what any academic course cannot teach you.

My contribution to the larger community cannot be, at this stage, to become an activist photographer to expose and promote the plights of societies. Instead, what I can say is that our planet is still so beautiful, various, full of different cultures and stories that should be told to everybody. Is this the role of the photographer, to learn and share their real experiences through their images.
