I am passionate about telling stories. No matter what the medium I always strive to tell a story in the strongest way possible. It is unique to a photographer to be able to tell a story of the world in a single frame. Designed, but unmanufactured like a painting or sculpture. This is what interests me with photography.

What drives me with photography is the urge to always push myself. To never repeat. To always take a photo that is not only good, but uniquely me. With each image urge myself to experiment with different techniques, framing styles, lens lengths, shutter speeds and uses of depth of field to create an image that is specific to the moment I took it. I like getting on my hands and knees and often find the best photograph is the one that was least comfortable to take.

My hope with my photography in the future, no matter where my life leads me, is to take images that move people. Images that, through colour, composition and shade inform others about the things in the world around them they may have missed. I feel that this scholarship will be able to give me the techniques, knowledge and experience to better allow me to do this; To reach as many people as possible.
