My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I believe a photograph says as much about the photographer as the subject. Any situation has an infinite number of viewpoints and information, and the interpretation is totally up to the observer. As a photographer I choose to see the beauty and optimism even in the bleakest situation.
Travel and photography are my favourite pastimes, and I feel fortunate to have travelled to many countries. I have taken many breaks in my career to travel and photograph in many countries and continents. The variety of landscapes on the earth fascinate me as much as the variety of wild life and human cultures.
While I have learned the art of photography by myself, I am very much interested in the science of it, and feel like I have much to learn in both areas. Becoming a travel photographer would be the ultimate and most satisfying career.
I feel this scholarship is a great opportunity to learn from the best in the field, and it would give me the skills needed to become a full-time photographer. I hope that one day I can contribute to a field which brings a sense of wonder and adventure to everyone.
