I was born to a simple Tibetan refugee family in India. Fortunately, with the grace of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, I was able to get a scholarship to study in New York University. Since college time in India, I remained as a passionate photographer, working on a cheap camera from a local market, spending my pocket money for developing films for friends.
I was fascinated with modernity of west, which I saw only in hollywood movies and tempted to feel it myself. When I first landed in JFK Airport, I was amazed by the cleanliness and the infrastructures provided in States. The roads were clean and neat without a dust. Since, America is economically advance, many people use recycled materials. Separate trash can for recycled materials are installed everywhere on the streets.
During week days, people were really busy, moving and rushing to catch subways for the office. It is hard to see people roaming around jobless. Manhattan, is supposedly a favorite tourist spot, where people from all over the world visit, especially to see Times Square and capture a snapshot for their fun trip memories. People in Manhattan knows that time is money.
Many people wonder, Manhattan is just a concrete buildings and skyscrapers. But, it is simply wrong. Manhattan got a gaint Central Park, which is full of park, grounds, lake and greenery. Whenever I was free, I used to go to the park to relieve myself from the stress and to take photographs. Many people used to visit Central park for fun and relax, and many come for jog, game, and family and friend get togethers. Many programs are also organized in Central Park.
On weekends, people are busy to give their time to their family members, friends and relatives. You will find resto bars, and coffee house packed with people eating and enjoying.
