The Grape Vine

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Saturday, October 16, 2010 | 5 photos

My adventure begun when i noticed some particular forms that had grown on this rustic grape vine. I grabbed my camera and climbed into this plant. I made my way up the base of the plant to soon find my first place of interest.
I wasn't sure at first, but it was almost as if somebody had been here before. What appeared to be rope, had been tied to branches creating a Tarzan rope for me to swing across. The problem was that this rope, had petrified over time. It was a dangerous situation, but a risk I had to take.
As I had progressed my journey through this gap, I discovered my first form of life. From the sides of an old rustic branch, a luscious little leaf with its younger sibling had made its way out. Its body was spread out to absorb the sun's energy. I marveled at its symmetrical beauty and its fine detail knowing that one day, it will cover this whole branch with its greenery.
It wasn't long until clouds begun to cover the skies, rain drops came falling over many of the rich leaves that had previously grown. I took quick snaps of what appeared to be a waterfall in the making and took refuge with one of the natives.
However something wasn't right. It appeared at first that he preferred to be outside when it was wet. I didn't quite understand. It didn't take me long to realize, he was scared, and stuck. In fact, he was stuck in this little ditch that had formed in the leaf. How do I know he was scared? Well... he pooed himself.
I didn't want to meet the same fate, so I got out of there. Dodging old sticks and swinging through the air, I made it out. As I walked home I noticed the sky had cleared. I turned back to see an old branch that almost appeared as if it was reaching out, to grab me.
