Egypt: 7000 years of civilization.. and counting?

Whenever you ask someone to give you one pro of living in Egypt, the first thing that comes to their mind is: "7000 years of civilization". Unless I'm a dinosaur or a National Geographic reporter, 7000 years of civilization just doesn't cut it for me! During the past three years with all the revolutions, uprisings, and coups, Egyptians can't seem to find the light at the end of the tunnel (it's probably out anyway from all the power cuts). Nothing seems to be going right and the one thing that we keep asking ourselves daily: How did I end up here?
Theft is spiraling out of control, terrorism is at it's finest (thanks to the Muslim brotherhood who are anything BUT Muslim), everyone's morale left off long ago, and poverty has never struck harder, but you know what? For some reason, people are still here (well, most of them anyway).
People have hopes for Egypt, hopes that make them want to stick around a little longer. Hopes for cleaner streets, better education, and an ever flowing Nile of love.
We all dream of a better Egypt, we all dream of more than just 7000 years of history, we all want to build up this empire of dreams that came to life, but will we? Will we ever get out of that slump and climb on top of one another to place bricks into a newly built pyramid? Will we ever get past our social ties and break free from the mould that we've been born in? Will we ever build our own sun when God's given beauty turns it's back on us?
It's not enough to just hope; It's not enough to sit there arms crossed, face long, and dream for your country. Let's be the change we want to see in Egypt; let's be 2014's pharaohs and build up 7000 more years of civilization for generations to come. Let's stop claiming the accomplishments of our ancestors and start accomplishing things for our own!
Instead of asking yourself "How did I end up here?", start asking "What am I gonna start here?"!
