The camel race at Sam sand dunes in Jaisalmer, is an annual event, which attracts a lot of audience, that include the foreigners/tourists and the nearby villagers. The tourists sat comfortably on camels to view the race, giving them a great height advantage over the ones standing and watching. The others? well, some decided to hop on to the nearby water tank, that shows the amount of interest they have in this annual race.

We must have seen and heard about horse race, dog race, even elephant race!. But it was quite surprising to see camels race! I always thought camels were very patient and usually sluggish. But in the last day of the desert festival at Jaisalmer, the camel race saw a huge crowd, with tourists and villagers from nearby villages, in equal numbers. The camel race was interesting to watch. So interesting that the race is an experience in itself!

The makeshift seating arrangement, in the form of camels. The tourists wre seated on the camels, giving them a better viewpoint, and without the hassles of frequent feet stamping, frequent view blocking and such stuff. On a deeper observation, the camels also seemed to spectate the race, as much as we humans spectate a running race in olympics. Overall, all the images prove that nature is appreciated even in a desert, devoid of greenery, and still providing entertainment to others.
