Jogjakarta is a developed city where tradition and globalization are blended into a unique culture. That’s why we can find many people still wear traditional cloth and do some cultural ceremonies but beside it most people are ready to accept the globalization. Unfortunately there are some traditional culture which have to struggle so they will not be drowned by the globalization.  Andong, (Javanese carriage), a mass transportation which had existed in 19th century, is trying to survive from motorcycles, cars, or buses attack on the road.
Andong workshop is one of the most important parts here. Without andong workshop, andong riders can’t repair theirs or make a new andong. Unfortunately, andong in Jogjakarta reduce as fast as the motor vehicles grow. Young generation doesn’t like to work as andong rider, so it reduces the demand of andong. And now, there are only 4 andong workshops left in Jogjakarta, whereas their local wisdom prevent the city from negative globalization and keep Jogjakarta as a cultural city. And off course, andong eliminates the pollution because it is very eco-friendly.

I’m a 20 years old college student. I’d like to chat with local people, blend myself in their way of life, work and laugh with them. That’s what I search for in every trip.
 I usually tell about reality by photographs rather than video/movie. A documentary movie world is completely new for me. This world is very interesting and I’m sure I can do more by making documentary movie. Doc movie needs a thorough observation so a close relationship between the subject and filmmaker makes the movie will be created so the movie has a personal taste and feelings. When I made this video I’ve faced many challenges, and one of them is the sensitiveness of subject who comes from poor family so I had to made them comfortable and open-minded with my visiting.
By making documentary movie, I could meet new people with different background, experience the different culture, learn to socialize. I’m sure that a movie has a strong impact and I could inform people about the world outside their area of seeing and thinking.
