Dr. Traveler

I have known Anna Stratis, a Canadian family physician for well over a decade now. We met back in India when she was contemplating a life in that country. For various reasons she could not stay but is determined to go back someday. Although she is quite well-travelled - Guyana, Turkey, much of Europe and some of Asia, her travels in India remain closest to her heart and the most memorable. This film is about her and her meditations of those days.

The images here are curated from a personal collection of travel film that I have been collecting of my own journeys since 2012. Although what is featured here is completely in travels with her. The interview was in her home country Canada, where I had the chance to visit her recently.

When I met Anna I had no idea I would ever be leaving India, let alone doing a mid-life master's degree in New York! She has and will always remain my strongest inspiration to pick up my things, get up and go. Her encouragement and unyielding support for my own latent desire to see the world have taken me today very far from the country I was born in. And raring to see more of the world. I not only share a deep rooted connection with Anna but also the curiosity of traveling like you live there.

I am not a film-student but a writer by profession, having worked in advertising for most of my career. I am currently a master's candidate at the interactive telecommunications program at NYU. I have never been this far from home.
