My scholarship entry - The hardship & prosperous view of Sabah's Malaysian society

In late 2011, I found myself boarding an open return air ticket to South America & Asia. I didn't speak Spanish & I was travelling on my own. My facial features would brand me a "Chinita" and there I would find a world so different to the other continents I've travelled. I learnt alot about myself & the passions I loved; meeting people, learning their story, heartaches, hardship & making life long friends.
2 continents, 7 countries, 26 cities, hardship & prosperity in Latino & Asian communities, volunteering for children & animal organizations who strive for awareness, organizations sadly destroying jungles in aid of profits, endangered sun-bears & more; I realised that without the S95, I would not be able to share my experience with the Western world.
The drive to capture the moment or to capture the angle of the light hitting a monumental architecture is a personal contest. Winning this battle is like being able to reward oneself to the best ice cream in Italy.
If I could re-live my photography experience again, I would love to be able to travel safely with a "proper" Canon DSLR although I would secretly bring my S95 as my best friend.
