I listened to the sound of the rain in the jungle. It sounds like a rain Forrest, pitter patter pitter patter go the rain drops, from the sky full of clouds. Onto the trees, the plants, the animals, and finally to the ground onto the grass giving the earth its nourishing thirst for water. Creating the dirt into mud, making the river rise up, up, and up. Giving the ducks and their ducklings a place to swim. The beautiful creation surrounded around me was so exquisite, so real, and so breathtaking. I was beyond blown away, by the nature I was living in. Thailand is my first true love.
The first day we started training for teaching so we could go out to the field of teaching young children. We started with teaching at child cares as the school students were on school holidays. The days went by I learnt very easily how to control a class and ways to start the lessons. Three days into my program I finally got my luggage and had a nice new clothes. We went to the markets that night to get a vibe of the city Chiang Rai.
We started teaching at the schools 3 weeks into the program, the children were such a joy to teach. The people I have met, the people that have taught me, the stories I have heard and the stories I have told. Have brought me so much happiness, the children that have shown so much loving and caring to a stranger that has just walked into the room the opening arms, the jumping all around and over me, the laughter that is shared and the tears that has fallen out of their eyes is every bit worth of this life I am living.
I could not see how my life could get any better than what I was feeling their was so much happiness pouring out of my smile, this was the blissful life that I was living. Thailand was my first love. I believe that Life is a gift and we should all cherish the simplest little things. We should not live the same day over and over again. Take chances and be spontaneous, fall in love.
I can honestly say I had never felt so much happiness and joy in my whole life. Thailand and volunteering has brought me a whole new perspective of life. I can not believe how far I have grown, how much knowledge I have gained, and how much my heart has grown bigger to fit more people in! I have adjusted to eating rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have survived and I have made it I encourage everyone to do volunteer work just like I have done! Not only does it change the lives you are helping, but it helps change your life that you are living!
