Sustainable living at Terra Khaya, Hogsback

My Scholarship entry - Through Local Eyes

WORLDWIDE | Monday, 15 October 2012 | Views [321] | Scholarship Entry

Hogsback is one of the most beautiful places in South Africa and the people who live there keep it that way. We wanted to film TerraKhaya as an example of how sustainable, ecofriendly living can be achieved. Shane, the owner, takes us on a tour of his farm showing the way he lives:100% off the grid, growing all his own vegetables and recycling everything.
I am a passionate film maker studying TV journalism. I'm a fast learner and hard worker with a keen eye for detail and strong command of camera and editing techniques. I have a passion for people and the art of visual storytelling. This would be an amazing opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge and it would help me realize my dream of being a travel filmmaker.
My presenter, Amy, is a lively, friendly, adventurous girl who is always up for a challenge and a laugh. She is excited by new experiences and always willing to try new things. Although she does not have a lot of experience in front of the camera she is the type of person people want to be with and travel with.
Both of us love to travel and experience new things and are used to roughing it when we need to. This experience would finally combine our love of travel and film.
