I have been a gypsy/nomad my whole life so far. My family and I have travelled to various countries and randomly embraced the cultures. I believe the way i see a scenario reflects not just the culture of the area but my visions and ideology of them, making them a unique motion experience.
I remember few years back I was visiting India to a very small town almost like a local Village in punjab. A friend of ours took us to into the wild for a bonfire. There lived a big family of gypsies, in India gypsies are the one's who sing and dance randomly for money. Their innocence and ideology is something very distant from the mainstream desires of the world.
When i went there my friend told them that I am a filmmaker and i liked them we might give them a chance in a film. They then lit a bonfire for us and few of them performed skits and live shows for us. It was so innocent and naive. One of their guru's came forward and sang for us the entire evening, and the power that he had in his voice shook us up. We didn't fluently understand the language but the dedication and purity he sang with reflected how peaceful he was.
This isn't some legend or a folktale but that day stays the most memorable in my heart. Cultures aren't just the event that we see in a city or festival, its made by people and to get into their mindset is what defines culture to me.
Winning this would the perfect combination of both my passions, Travel & Filmmaking.
