Stunning Sinai

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Monday, September 5, 2011 | 5 photos

The photos in this journal were taken on a very recent trip to the Sinai peninsula in Egypt, my homeland.
My passion for photography is insurmountable by nothing other than that for traveling and discovery. The ability to tell a whole story (involving characters, a setting, an event, feelings and ideally also relay some sort of wisdom) is one that is so powerful and intense, words cannot do it justice. A photo might be worth a thousand words, but a good photo's worth is priceless.

Sinai is breathtaking and I've grown addicted to her. Her mountains, variant desert terrain, star-studded skies, and gorgeous Bedouins take you on a magical journey you never want to be awaken from. Being there midst the silence, stillness and peace reminds one of who he/she really is, things we tend to forget in the "rude world". I hope through the few photos I've selected to be able to relay some of that magic on.

I am an Egyptian 24 year old of the female species living in Cairo. I work as a technology consultant, but my passion lies mainly in traveling and photography. I also draw comics for a local magazine 'Autostrade', freelance writing articles and doing some design work. I wish to become a professional photographer some day, and have never wanted anything as much as this stellar opportunity to learn from a real professional in a wonderfully rich location such as South Africa. I would love to be a part of this and am yearning to learn as much as possible from it.

All the best,
Sara
