The evolution of human cultures and the big diversity between them was always a subject that interested me. Having a degree in Anthropology allowed me to acquire more knowledge and a better understanding of the human history. In the last semester of my studies, I got the opportunity to do an internship in a Production Company which, at the time, was producing a documentary about Macao and the people from Macao that lived in Lisbon. Having collaborated with this Company and being involved in the production of this documentary allowed me to look at a different perspective of documenting the stories of these people and how this can be helpful to Anthropology. Thus, last year, I decided to apply for a technical course in the area of audiovisuals. This course helped me to learn and develop a set of skills in filmmaking production, allowing me to put into practice those skills in a more practical and confident way. Therefore, winning the 2015 Travel Film Scholarship would be a one in a lifetime opportunity because it would mean, not only that I could travel and discover an amazing and beautiful country such as Colombia, but also that I could be in contact with the community and learn their culture, as well as documenting their stories, which would allowed me to combine three of my biggest passions: traveling, Anthropology and filmmaking.

Nice Work, Luis!
Watching this made me consider the relationship between age and travel in a way that I haven't thought about before; What kind of effects does travel have on a person when they live in different cultures as they enter early adulthood? I've considered this in regards to younger children and people in their 20's, but I've never thought about it from the perspective of someone around the age of 18. That must have been a very adventurous and fulfilling way to start the next chapter of his life! The subject refers to this period as "when you stop being a child and become an adult, and are responsible for everything that happens in your life"; This quote really resonated with me because it is bold and simple, and gave me a great sense of the kind of person he is. On the note of responsibility, I would have loved to hear more about what kind of jobs he had and how he lived when in different countries!

You had some really cool shots of the subject riding his bike, and I especially liked the overhead view at 1:52. The sound of his bike as he rides by at 1:11 was also captured beautifully. Great job overall, and good luck!
