I've made quite a few trips to this beach in the last 12 months. I can only give 2 reasons for this (obsession) - it's not too far away from home and it's quite private. Not to mention gorgeous. OK make it 3 reasons then.
This picture was taken March this year and the local weather then is generally perfect (for me) for beach combing. Sun, brief overcast, sun, brief overcast, then sun again.
This particular day had started out quite normally. But by late afternoon, the sky started turning quite dark. Brooding even. It was fascinating to watch the sky in the horizon turn blacker and blacker by the second. Not scary. Far from it. In fact, there was a sense of exciting expectation.
The last time I remember being on a beach during a storm was about... wow more than 3 decades ago! So of course I had to be out there to look at the gathering clouds; and to watch the storm come in from the
sea.
It wasn't the same as that long ago moment though. Then I had run on the sand and swam in the water in the middle of all that rain, not a care about anything. But this time, after snapping a picture, I raced against the rain, towards shelter,
not for my sake, but for my camera's!!
It was lovely. To be back again and be caught up, if only briefly, in that long ago moment.
