My interest in photography started 8 years ago when I purchased a bridge camera with my first child on the way. Since then I have been learning through magazines & at my local club.
I have a mentor in the club that has helped me grow immensely, going from a basics to winning 2012 “B” Grade Champion. Having a mentor has been the biggest contributor to my growth in photography and I would love the opportunity to be mentored by professionals.
In the last 2 years I have gravitated towards landscape & travel photography for two reasons. 1st I easily see photo opportunities in the outdoor environment, as this is where I feel most at ease with myself. 2nd I live on a sailing boat with my family & we are leaving for a world tour.
This scholarship would help me to improving my photos so they are captivating and inspiring to others. Through my photography I hope to inspire people to help preserve and stop the destruction of the natural beauty and cultural diversity our world has. I hope for people to see consumerism has gone mad and needs to be brought back into balance with our natural world. I can help people to see the beauty the world has to offer through photographic media.
