My Scholarship entry - A Day in Laos: Capturing Moments
Laos | Thursday, October 23, 2014 | 5 photos
I have been a storyteller since I was 6 years old. Of course, this made me want to travel the world, to write, to make films, to capture everything-moments, movements, moods, colors, with images, words, and sounds. I dedicated most of my life to seeing other countries, working on films, and sharing those experiences with others. Gaining the invaluable knowledge of a National Geographic photographer as talented as Jason in a place as magical as the Amazon, would change my life, and hopefully the lives of others through my photos one day. Through working in film, I learned how much you can capture in a single frame, a photo. I want to learn the ability to make people feel, see, and experience what I feel no matter where they are in the world just from my photography-1000 words in a photo? I want mine to have millions. I volunteered for WWF in Toronto until leaving for a 4 month trip to South America, where I was excited to volunteer, learn, and explore. 4 days into the trip, the ATV I was on flipped, tearing my meniscus and ACL. I continued the trip, but missed the amazon and so much of what I set out for. This would give me that trip, and the skills I need to make people feel alive.
