My Scholarship entry - A Walk through Hong Kong
Hong Kong | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 4 photos
My name is Lauren Peetz, I am 27 and was born and raised in Los Gatos, California. Last year I left my job as an operations manager to backpack for half a year through Asia. As it does to most people, it changed my life and the direction I want to take. Travel is amazing. When I take myself from my routine and environment to explore somewhere new it shapes the way I see myself, other people, and the world. When I take photos of a place, I look to capture images so I can revisit the experience of being there, but I also look to inspire the imagination and spirit in others who have not. In my travel photography I look to convey the movement, authenticity and color that you experience when exploring a new place. None of my shots are posed and nearly all of my photos are taken spur of the moment whether that be mid-step through a market or from the back of a moving motorcycle. By capturing these authentic moments I hope to show not only the place but also the experience of traveling. I jump at every chance to travel so I can practice my storytelling and technique and I look forward to carrying heavy bags, on no sleep, through a foreign landscape to learn how to do better what I love.
