A simple question asked by two blue eyes with an amazed look at some photos on his PC: "Would you like to go to Croatia for Easter Holidays? ". Then it became a story of an incredible week of a group that could be a part of a joke: one French, one Turkish(me), one Indian, one Taiwanese and one Ecuadorian. 2 girls and 3 guys, have never travelled together before, 2517km in 7 days passing through borders with 5 passports from 5 different countries. 7 days without any discussion, 7 days of knowing each other and non-stop laughing.
He and I were working on the plan which was changing non-stop because of the impressive nature of Eastern Europe. I have been away from the seaside for a while and I was dying to see any kind of water. And, he has been looking forward to have a walk in the forest. So, the plan began to shape, also the travel group, 3 others to fill the empty seats in his car, Peugeot 206. As we were quite teeny-tiny, we were hoping to find others like us to fit in the car. At the end none of us was no more than 1.76m.
First stop was clear, Plitvice National Park though the weather forecast was not promising at all. I was just believing to the luck of him for the weather. On the 21st of April 2014, early in the morning, at 4 a.m., half sleepy travelers were ready to go! After a road trip more than 8 hours, we could make the tour on the lower part of the lake. We were ambitious! Our backpacks with energy bars, powerades, umbrellas and hiking jackets! The soup after getting cold! Ready to walk.
Despite the rain showers all morning, from the moment we left the house till coming back there was not even a drop! We were walking on the lakes, rivers between the lakes and near the waterfalls by taking the wooden roads. There was any kind of blue: azure, turquoise, teal, navy. And, green all around: dark, lime, olive. We were feeling the water drops on our faces when we were standing in front of a waterfall. The reflections of the forest and the mountains, it was like a painting. The water was crystal clean, the bottom of the water and the fish inside was seen. I thought we were lucky as it was not raining! But we were also lucky that it rained before our arrival. It was marvelous to hear the gurgling sound of the little, big, wide, any kind of waterfalls. There was a little sun creating rainbows around the waterfalls, a little sun shining and smiling. I will never forget that day. I was in love with lakes. Maybe I was in love as well, I didn't know before.
