Travel Tales of a (Day)Dreamer

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Indonesia | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 10 photos

My name is Lia, 25 y.o. Indonesian, whose passion for photography has been growing since I was a teenager, and getting bigger when I started working at a company where I get encouragement to develop my photography skill.

I'm amazed of how a photograph could tell stories and bring me to places I've never been before; to my wildest imagination.

I've always dreamt of being trained by a professional photographer, and becoming a real photographer. And to be a world traveler is like my lifetime dream. I am a dreamer and a learner, and this is a really big opportunity for me to make my dreams come true!

Recently I've been to Toraja, South Sulawesi - Indonesia, to attend a funeral ceremony of a relative, who passed away a year ago. Yes, a year ago. This is an important ceremony for people in Toraja, which can show social position of the late person to society, and could take hundreds of million rupiah to held the ceremony. Pretty big numbers. That's what takes them so long to held the ceremony: financial preparation, beside of waiting for availability of all family members to gather and attend the ceremony.
