Enjoy Baths in China

CHINA | Tuesday, 26 May 2015 | Views [162] | Scholarship Entry

This story is about baths in Urumqi, the city in the north of China. Being our good and friendly neighbor China with its fantastic history has always excited my imagination. I started researches of this country from a commercial city, the nearest to my place of living (Almaty, Kazakhstan). Everybody who visited Urumqi before had told me about cheap skiing resorts, the fantastic Lake Tianchi with its guardian dragon and the ancient city of Turpan, and all these people had never forgot (with their happy and relaxing faces) to remind me to visit baths of Urumqi.
As I have been to Urumqi several times of many bathes there I highly recommend visiting the Dashang Bath Club. It is quite an old center but its services in line with quality are comparable to more than acceptable prices. When I think about this place I start slobbering… It is really worth to get back to China not once. This bath helps you to reborn. You start from a tub with milk or vine (upon your request) after which two specialists scrub and pill you with a special glove to renew your skin. The next specialist massages the whole your body, put masks on your hands, feet, hair, face and body (depending on where you want and for what you pay) and sends you with all the applications to the sauna. Note the set of procedures can also cover Thai or Chinese massage, manicure, pedicure, hand and feet paraffin therapy and even ear cleaning – all this for a ridiculous amount of money.
There was the moment when I felt myself Frankenstein – I had a brown mask on my face and a little cap on my head which was hold by a ribbon tied under my chin, the body was wrapped with cellophane and my arms and feet were in packets with a strange substance looking like cottage cheese. In general nobody paid a lot attention to me but there was a little girl who pointed at me and started laughing. Once I told this story to one friend of mine, he said: “Beauty is a terrible power!”
Another peculiarity of the bathes: the cheapest ticket to this place (which is about 8 USD) allows you not only clean yourself but provides you with accommodation for 24 hours with a kind of authentic show. So if you like big society of strangers, you can save a lot of money by settling there for a time.
Still thinking of going to Urumqi? There some convincing examples: this is the only place on Earth where in the streets at -30 degree C you can find alive golden fish for sale or a palm reader in a lonely city park.
