The parade's grandmaster wears stilts and pirate-esque attire while brandishing a pyrotechnic wand.

In some parts of Spain, Carnival lasts for four days; in Segovia, part of the more conservative Castilla-Leon region, it lasts for 40 minutes. A parade led by local thespians marches down the small town's main street and up to the Plaza Mayor.

The parade's route passes (and is largely out-shined) by Segovia's main attraction, the 2000-year-old Roman aqueduct.
