The Threads of Peru

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

A young girl from the weaving community of Amaru, Peru learns how to read. Weavers and families, together, described lack of access to most amenities and services as a result of distance and isolation of the community and raised concern for high illiteracy rates in the community. The community requested literacy training as a Volunteer Service Project.
