Heading to camp

USA | Monday, 11 May 2015 | Views [130] | Scholarship Entry

Hello everyone. My name is Madina and I am from a gorgeous country Kazakhstan. In year 2012 I was luckily a participant of Camp and Travel Program to the USA. The job I got was in Pennsylvania State, Eagle Springs Camp. As luck would have it, my visa interview was so late, thereby me with other two girls from Kazakhstan were late for meeting of counsellors at Columbia University in NYC. We had to get to the destination by ourselves, before that of course we spoke to an employer- a very polite lady.
On the way to Reading Station in PA, we were very embarrased since my battery was flat and was getting dark, thus we did not know what to expect next. We were met by two persons at the station, kind of were frightened as it was our first experience. When I got there we went into the night into the forest where the camp was located. Everything was so unusual, came to cabin and found out that everywhere was light off.
We were given a place to stay in one of the rooms, since it was the first day and everyone had to find out the personal room the following day. During the night I woke up of the scream of Julia because of a spider. I tried to comfort her as for me it was quite normal being in the forest and encountering such kind of insects should be normal. Next day, I got up very early at around 7. To my surprise, noone was in the room. I just went downstairs, checked and everywhere was empty. I still don't know how come I went along the path and saw a huge building and the greatest landscape around it was so green. Came inside and was astonished to see up to 150 people in one canteen. Everyone was extremely friendly and this is how it started my life at camp for 3 months of challenge, joy, vacationers and such a rewarding life experience.
