I have always been interested in how people think, behave and live
in other parts of the world. Growing up around different cultures and
languages my goal has been to find a common ground between groups and
within myself. My curiosity for South America had been fueled by storys
and myths; eldorado, the inkas, the revolutions and the beautiful
landscapes made me decide to go there.
For this documentary I
did not plan more than flight tickes actually and I let my intuition
follow me. After the trip and studying documentary film I understood
that planning is one of the key elements of making a good film. For me
the greatest challenge was to find a red thread thrue all the recorded
material. Getting carried away by all impressions during filming was
too easy. My spanish is also not fluently so I had to rely more on
feeling than on deep interviews.
My ambition as a documentary
filmmaker is to work internationally with filmmakers all over the
world, to share ideas and create beautiful things together. To work in
third world countries and in some way contributing to understanding
about the situation there is a dream come true. I wish to experiment
with different techniques and cameras, let peoples inner world come to
life and show things in different ways. A good documentary is not only
one observer observing a subject but the reflections and process of the
observer himself.
