Before flying out, I decided I needed to spend an afternoon checking out this cool city. As it turned out, I should really have got up earlier and got an earlier bus (damn 2-hour journey). Didn't have a lot of time, but I did get to:
- Listen to busking bagpipers again. It's wussy, but listening to bagpipes playing Amazing Grace actually can bring tears to my eyes (and, no, not of pain).
- Eat Balmoral Chicken, ie chicken stuffed with haggis, and topped with a cream whisky sauce. This was accompanied by an amazing strawberry and lime cider. Go Kopparberg. I've never seen this in NZ, but I really, really hope that I can find it somewhere when I get back.
- Wander up and down the Royal Mile to see: the castle (just from outside, due to time constraints), many fancy shops, people dressed as Highlanders for photo purposes, many hot guys in kilts, cool views over Edinburgh, more pipers...
