My Scholarship entry - Finding beauty in little no where USA.

I took a commercial photography class my senior year with the mindset of it being a blow off class. Since the moment I picked up a camera it changed my life. I found a way to express my creative side and I realized the power I held in my hands and in my mind. A single imagine can influence a nation and I firmly believe that. I want to be apart of that community. I want to contribute everything I have to something I truly believe in. The problem is I have all this ambition and no avenues. I find local beauty in my community but the hardest thing is to get established and recognized. Of course I would love to take a trip to countries and see the world; capture the moments and indulge myself in other cultures but my funds and resources is what I lack. I crave knowledge and want nothing more than to make a difference. When I was a little girl I remember receiving National Geographic and thinking it was the most amazing job to have. I still do, and given the opportunity I would take advantage of the whole experience. I believe you can't just take a picture of your salad, throw a "valencia" or " x-pro II" filter and call it art. Photography is a feeling, an emotion.
