Sihanouk's official title was "Preah Karuna Preah Bat Sâmdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk Preahmâhaviraksat”. The literal translation of the title means sacred, compassionate, foot, lord, sacred, best quality among men, jaws of the lion, great, brave and warrior. I think it says it all. These monks came to pray with hurt people and show respect to their (as they called him) grandfather.

The roots of a lotus are in the mud, the stem grows up through the water and the heavily scented flower lies pristinely above the water, basking in the sunlight. This pattern of growth signifies the progress of the soul from the primeval mud of materialism, through the waters of experience into the bright sunshine of enlightenment. It symbolizes purity, spirituality, prosperity so no wonder there were thousands of them brought to deceased Cambodian beloved King on 15 October 2012.

“Human beings make mistakes, so did I.” Norodom Sihanouk.
He admitted this not only once. Despite of every mistake he made nation loved him so much that many would gave a life for him. Characteristics like charismatic, hero, patriot, role model were commonly used with his name. Nuns came in front of the Royal palace in crowds with monks and thousands of mourning people to pray together for their former leader.
