My Scholarship entry - Bodie, once a bustling mining town

Photography is a way of communication for me. Connecting and communicating with words is what I do daily, I am a social worker and I work with children. Communicating thru my photographs I find way more difficult and I want to become as good without words, as I am with (since I already talk too much on a daily basis).
I want to show the beauty of different cultures to gain understanding and respect towards each other. To let people see how beautiful different kinds of animals and wildlife are so we make the conscious decision to preserve it. If we show people how beautiful the world and its inhabitants are, how can we not make the decision to change our ways?
What I would hope to gain from this experience most of all is the art of storytelling. When I look at pictures of professional photographers , I wish I could communicate like that, for people to understand. I want to tell a story that knocks people of their feet and make them think. To learn to see what makes or breaks a story so I can become a professional storyteller myself. That is why this scholarship and the experience to learn from an award-winning photographer as Jason is what can take my photography to the next level.
