Food

Loving the food situation. It’s easily obtained, diverse, quick and cheap. We have thrown out the idea of having our own main meal and just simply order a selection of dishes and then see what happens.  To date we haven’t left enough room to try a dessert but am looking forward to seeing what sweet creations they have come up with.  Our Sichuan experience we werentricked by the pictures into thinking they were small dishes so we over ordered and the prices aren’t much help. The chicken dish was a little hot for us I enjoyed the pepper but the chilli had a bite,  the fish soup arrangement was tasty but huge and the wontons and fried buns went down a treat. The dumpling affair at the restaurant near the train station is still a mystery as dumpling was the only common word we had between us but of course they wanted us to choose the type of dumplings so I ended up just pointed to two different price ranges and see what arrived. We have to learn to cope with the instant pressure when we walk into a restaurant as after they have given us a table and we are madly unwrapping ourselves from our complex multi layered clothing they are standing to attention ready to take an order, so last night I ordered the beer and got rid of her for a couple of minutes but then she raced back into the same position, so we are going to have to learn not to be pressured or just order something to keep them happy and cooking and then peruse the menu at leisure and just order in increments.

I suppose there are so many food choices that people must decide what they want first - and then go to the restaurant that serves it. Or maybe the locals are just good at making decisions! Let's send Nancy over there!
