Charming Cambodia

CAMBODIA | Friday, 5 August 2011 | Views [419]

It has always been our yearly tradition to celebrate our wedding anniversary in a new country, but this time around it was very unique and special.  Not only did we spend quality time together, but we managed to help some needy children and even witness amazing artistries in this peaceful, culturally-blessed and charming city of Siem Reap.

If you have pash for art, ancient cultures and nature, it’s a must for you to visit Cambodia. Our four days were packed from witnessing sunrise at Angkor Wat and sunset at Phonm Bakeng, riding a bike in the afternoon , experience Tuk Tuk and all its glory, and shopping at night markets.  The most memorable and meaningful part of our celebration – our visit to the Acodo and Sala Bai.  At Acodo (Assisiting Cambodian Orphans and the Disabled Organisation), we watched a traditional Khmer Dance Show performed by the children from this orphanage.  We arrived earlier so we had ample time to mingle with the kids.  Although they always perform every night, you can see the excitement from their youthful eyes when they’re on stage.  Your visit to Siem Reap will not be complete without having a meal at Sala Bai – a hotel and restaurant that trains young disadvantaged Cambodians for the hospitality industry.  We were blessed with another year of blissful marriage and it was fulfilling to know that we were able to also share our blessings to the Cambodian children.
