My Scholarship entry - My Journey in France

France | Thursday, January 10, 2013 | flickr photos

When I was little, I draw a lot and really like it. But like any parent of a poor family in Vietnam, mother told me that I must study and be good at science to ensure a future in this post-war, pre-industrial society.
5 years ago, I was accepted into one of the best university in my country with a score of 27/30. For a young Vietnamese there must be no equal reason to be proud and happy of. But for me, I only felt empty..
Then I came to France to continue my study. Free from most pressure, I bought an used 400D, and try hard to be worthy of the little thing. After many practice and readings I realized photography is not only about techniques. It's mostly about how strong one's belief in his visions, so strong that it can change the others by just one single moment.
This contest give me a precious chance to learn from a true mentor. The experience gain from this trip will further encourage me to walk on the path I choosed. But whether I win or not, this summer I will come home and tell mother about my dream: to become a travel photojournalist, go where no one ever been, take photos no one dare to take, inspire many others to break free and chase the possibilities.

Thank you for listening to my story
