The photographs are from a trip I took to The Netherlands with my boyfriend. His family is from there and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go with. The Netherlands are incredibly lush and water is absolutely everywhere. In these photographs we were in a small village and decided to rent a boat. You can choose to either have a boat with a motor or just a very long pole which you use to basically push yourself along. We opted for the motor, but a group of young girls we met chose the pole, and were completely worn out when we ran into them. One girl actually jumped in the shallow lake and started pulling the boat, so of course we offered to help tow them back to shore!
I am a student right now, working on a degree in psychology. Honestly, school is my backup plan. I'm making sure i have something to fall back on, but travel writing and travel photography have been my dream for as long as I can remember. My photographs may not be the best you see, but that is why I want to win this scholarship. I want to improve my skill and use it for the rest of my life. All semester long I can't wait until I have a week or two off so I can plan a trip to go explore somewhere new. I think about it every day, without fail. I am constantly amazed by everything I see, everywhere I go. I find new places and people absolutely fascinating. I want to learn how to take pictures of the world, the way I see it. I want to learn how to let everyone see the world through my eyes.
