    Views[93] It is for this very reason, as well as Colleen’s inestimable determination to rise above her own frailties, to continue to give these people a will to live, that I photographed this story. Views[237] In the words of my grandmother, a fellow U3A choir member, ‘all of these people are suffering from illnesses and life problems, but for that one hour on Tuesday they forget all their worries as they sing’. For that one hour on Tuesday, their life is extraordinary. Views[257] But most importantly, a woman who turns up every Tuesday for one hour to conduct and play piano for the University of the Third Age choir. Views[247] A woman who loves music and plays the piano. A woman who lost her husband of 50 years, Bill to the dreaded golden staph. A woman who herself, has more health problems than I’d care to list. Views[257]
     
    Colleen Johnson is a remarkable woman, contrary to what she would tell you. She is my grandma’s next door neighbour. A woman who spent her life practicing patience and compassion while teaching disabled children. Views[239]
