Hey World,
My name is Lauren Martinez and I will be getting out of my comfort zone in the new year. In January 2017, I will be traveling solo to Costa Rica to volunteer. The reason for my going is to see if this is the path I want to take for my future. I want to work with a nonprofit, so this is the best experince I can do for my myself to see if I am able to handle this type of work. I also think this trip will help me grow as an individual and gain a new persepctive on life as well.
As for volunteering, I have always wanted to go abroad and now I am able to do it. I am finally at a point where I can go and make a difference or at least be part of something that will make a difference.
During my time in Costa Rica, I will be working with kids that come from harsh realities and that are not given the same priveleges or opportunities we get here in the United States. I am still not sure where I will be placed until I get there, but I am looking forward to working with kids.
Aside from volunteering, I will have time to myself to explore Costa Rica and what makes it beauiful. I plan on having some fun, but not getting in trouble:) So be sure to check in to see what I have been up to.
One of the best parts of this trip is I will be seeing it all, the good and the bad, while experinecing the Costa Rican lifestyle. I plan on trying new things and learning as much as I can.
