Durham Cathedral was built in the 1093-1133 and with additions until 1490. It was built to house the relics of St cuthbert after the repeated viking attacks at Lindidfarne. It was named a world heritage site in 1986. Its been used in several films, including Harry Potter.
It is amazing to walk through and realize that this huge ornate building was done without power tools and cranes, but built by hand stone by stone. Its stain glass windows are a work of art. Pictures are not allowed inside the cathedral.
