My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I started taking photos was when I was five or six years old. We were on a holiday in Hong Kong and I just strapped the camera around my neck and shot away. All my shots never made it to the dark room though, because at one point during the trip, I opened the back of the camera -- out of curiosity -- and the film was exposed.

That experience did not, in any way, hinder me. Instead, it made my interest in photography grow. Throughout primary school and high school, I just kept shooting with various subjects and under different circumstances just to try things out. It helped a lot that I met a friend who was also very interested in photography. Together we would share our experiences, and learn from one another. I would also read about techniques and tips over the internet, and eventually try them out.

I've always been enchanted with the Middle East and I can feel this deep wanderlust in me. I'm a very passionate person especially when it comes to photography. When I take photos, I want the people looking at the photos to feel the emotion, as if they were there themselves. This scholarship would be a great opportunity for me to hone my skills with only the best in the industry.
