A 'place' I have visited- Camp A Low Hum

For me, travel and photography have always been inextricably linked. I suppose my passion for photography was born out of envy –envy of travel photos that seemed to “do justice” to people and places that mine could not, something that I initially attributed to the technological superiority of DSLR cameras.
Slowly, however, I came to appreciate the importance of attention grabbing composition, the role of shadow and light, of new angles and perspectives. These fundamentals, I learnt, a reflection of technology or proficiency with editing software, but rather are skills possessed and crafted by artists. Now I carry a camera constantly, as I delight in finding extraordinary photos in the most unexpected places.
Most of my training has been through trial and error and I would benefit hugely from the mentorship of as a photographer as esteemed as Jason. As a history major and aspiring journalist I believe that photography’s ability to convey raw emotion and unspoken stories is unsurpassed by other art forms. I believe that photography has the potential to inspire awareness, and this scholarship would be an invaluable step in my pursuit to achieve this.
