Children of Peru

My grandfather was an amateur photographer. He had a very strict order in all the chemicals, papers, negatives and other stuff which looked complicated and exciting at the same time. His pictures showed me places, people and times I couldn't otherwise get to know. My interest about photography comes from him. But will is not enough to become a photographer, you need a camera, too. My mother always said 'Don't waste the film!' Luckily some years later, already in the digital era, I went to study abroad and taking pictures was the best way to inform my friends and family about my new surroundings and adventures. So that's how I started, what I do and would like to get better at: documenting what and how I see when I am somewhere.
I like to show not only the big dramas (starving, ill, old, lonely, poor, war, hard working etc.), the beautiful and extraordinary, but also the other side and the usual. Problems are touching and easy to communicate, but there is always a balance between the opposite and there are some trade-offs - you get something for something. So let’s put on a picture that, too.
My ultimate dream is to become a travel photojournalist to inspire and bring people to different places (also virtually, because not everyone has enough means, health and time), and attract attention where it’s needed and wanted. I speak six languages, which is quite usefull when travelling. However I have to learn more about photography before I can quit my current job and this scholarship could help me to make the dream come true.
