Why the long way?

Well, matt and i both don't want to fly because we know it's shit for the environment. i know about climate change and i know that flying is really bad for our environment. since i've got the privilege to travel i want to make the effort and go the long way. it will take us ages but will be amazing as well.
i wish i could say we're not flying at all. the problem is that its hurricane season so there's no boats between Australia and Indonesia operating.
A short outline of the way we're taking:
Train from Adelaide to Darwin (2 days)
Plane from Darwin to Bali
Ferry from Bali to Sumatra. Maybe go to some forests or whatever.
Train through Sumatra to Medan, then make our way to the ferry...
Ferry across the Malacca Strait to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Heaps long train ride from Malaysia to Bangkok, Thailand.
Buses and stuff to Vientiane, on the Laos border.
Heading through Laos to Hanoi, Vietnam.
Train from Hanoi to Beijing, China. Then we'll catch the trans-siberian train to Moscow.
from moscow we'll go through Belarus
from there through poland
to berlin
and then BERN {endstation}
