老百姓: The Old One Hundred Names - The Lives of Ordinary Chinese Citizens

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Anyone who has ever visited or lived in China would be hard pressed to imagine China without cyclists weaving in and out of the traffic. The bicycle is one symbol of China's ever changing relationship with the west. When bikes first made their appearance in China they were welcomed with no more than apprehensive acceptance as a western oddity, now however they are as common as chopsticks and rice.
