Day 36

FRANCE | Saturday, 9 January 2010 | Views [255] | Comments [2]

Woke up at 6am to catch our train...not cool.

Sad to leave Barca, best hostel and coolst city so far...need to plan a summer euro-trip for 3 years time when Dan's finished uni and we can come back to barca, maybe portugal, ibiza and the greek islands.

Caught the same rickety old deathtrap of a train out of barca. we got halfway to the border when it stopped, and as far as i could tell there was some problem with the wheels being the wrong gague for the track ahead...made no sense to me.

By 2pm (we were ment to be in Montpellier by 1:30pm) we started moving again. We eventually arrived in Narbonne at 4pm and in a mad rush and dealing with rail staff that spoke no engilish managed to get on a 4:10pm train to paris. this train was much better. we pretty much slept the entire way.

We arrived in Paris at 12am and made our way to the hostel, St Christophers. Its a great hostel, really really big, but brand new and really cool. Cant compete with the private room me and sam had in spain though, but its still nice.

We pretty much went straight to bed.

Hi Luke! I am back at work and have resumed reading your travel diary. All sounds pretty good to me, but man what a hassle it can be sometimes. It sounds like you may not be going back to Paris in a hurry.
The mazda 3 has arrived and I have been zooming around - actually I have been taking it easy - getting used to the car and driving a manual again. Well keep on keepin' on, have fun and stay safe. Seen any good bands lately?

Hi Luke
How was Paris second time around? Hopefully staying in a better hostel has helped. We enjoyed Melbourne - it was good to catch up with Lesley and Andrew. They might be coming to Adelaide in March so hopefully you'll catch up with them then. Terry the Viking & Bear Daniels have gone camping/hiking with Helen of Troy and Dr Bill of the Flinders. They bumped into Arthur and family on the first night at Mt Remarkable (could not miss the winnebago) and shared a BBQ. I've had to go back to work this week...sob...sob...sob. Koula came over last night and we had a good yarn and shared a Green Mint tea and baklARva(Koula was under strict instructions from Bear Daniels to come and visit )Take care and have fun . L M
