The Abbot of Nan Hua Temple, Venerable Hui-Fang, shared the New Year's message of Venerable Master Hsing Yun with eight hundred people. The Grand Master spoke wise words of “Heavenly Blessing and Protection."

South Africa is a land with a diverse cultures. To celebrate the Chinese New Year is yet another extraordinary event to experience the Chinese culture. The Celebration begins with monks beating rhythmically before the Main Hall becomes quiet to wait for the Abbot of Nan Hua Temple, Venerable Hui-Fang, to deliver his New Year's message

Outside the hall the celebration of the Year of the Dragon began with the thundering sound of hundreds of crackers being set alight. The whole courtyard was covered with a white blanket of smoke. This marked the start of the Dragon and Lion Dance, a traditional dance to celebrate the year of the dragon. This dance is done with the intention to ward of evil spirits and to bring prosperity and good fortune .
