My Scholarship entry - Woodford Folk Festival

Storytelling is my passion. As a photographer I am driven by the opportunities that come with using a camera. To experience the vast and diverse cultures of this world, the power to share knowledge, celebrate life's triumphs and to shed light on social injustice.

My documentary work to date spans a variety of subjects, including projects concerned with Post-War Legacy on soldiers and PTSD, Homelessness and Australian Indigenous rights. Whilst I also enjoy photographing the human condition and vibrancy of our diverse cultures.

The chance to travel is always a privilege, and I have been lucky enough to travel both widely in my home country of Australia, as well as to several countries in SE Asia and The Pacific.

For me 2013 started on a hilltop with several thousand beautiful people, all sharing in welcoming in the new-year. However for the majority of people on our planet, it was but another morning. The need for food, water, safety and basic human rights overshadowing any desire to celebrate. My goal as a photographer is to continue using the camera to inform and educate others, to bring the challenges faces by others into the hearts of those who can help make a difference.
