My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

If you are reading this then it means that my photos have passed your initial scrutiny. Thank-you, I am overjoyed!
I should be awarded this scholarship because I have been fortunate to have a unique life experience which has given me a novel, broader perspective than most people. If awarded this scholarship this would better enable me to communicate that perspective through my lens.
As a child, I was lucky enough to have adventurous parents who left all the comforts of a modern life behind to move our family to Canada’s arctic. Now as an adult I realize that this is the reason I have no TV and why I spend my free time on my bicycle taking photos of the beautiful world we live in. Why countless hours spent waiting for the perfect shot of a heron or a bald eagle is the best way I can think of to spend that time! A journey to Bhutan with Jason doing this while learning as much as I possibly can would indeed be a dream come true!
I am self taught and have not attended any formal photography schools. This makes me the perfect candidate to soak up as much of Jason’s expertise as I can in the week that I hope we will have together.
As trite as it may sound, I hope to change the world through my photographs. You never know who may see your photos and be moved by them. I also hope to learn how to make the most impact through my photos and how to be more effective both technically and emotionally. I know I have an “eye”, and my driving aspiration is to develop it.
It is said that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Thank you for your consideration.
