My Scholarship entry - Traversing Turkey

Turkey | Tuesday, June 25, 2013 | 5 photos

For the past six and a half years photography has been my life. I have invested all my time and money in developing my skills and knowledge in the field. At just 18 years old, I have devoted just over a third of my life to photography. I was born in South Africa in 1994 just as the country was seeing the end of its terrible Apartheid era and transforming into the Rainbow Nation in which its residents live today. My childhood was a difficult one in the sense that I was born with Club Feet. I spent most of my first seven years of life being wheeled in and out of hospitals for corrective surgery, which have now paid off, as I am very fit at the moment. It was at the end of my primary schooling career that my photographic journey began. My family and I traveled to the USA. And so I picked up my father’s Canon 300D and began to snap away. My family believes that travel is the finest luxury one can afford and as a result I have been to many incredible places over the years including Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Egypt. I have won a PSSA award for Best Young SA Photographer. I have recently returned from a two-month stint in India having been an official unpaid photographer for the IPL.
