My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Costa Rica | Tuesday, January 8, 2013 | 5 photos
Growing up in a Chicago suburb, I dreamed of living an adventurous life abroad for as long as I can remember. My bedroom walls were an on-going collage tribute to my favorite National Geographic photos. There was so much “out there” that I yearned to be a part of, but for most of my life all I could do was live vicariously through the lens of photographers.
I later finally got the chance to venture abroad and haven’t looked back! I’ve been fortunate to call such places as India, Japan, Costa Rica, Australia, and, now, Colombia my home. My favorite part of traveling is the connections with new people and glimpses into other lifestyles. I try to view every person I encounter as a precious opportunity both to learn and share.
I am mostly self-taught as a photographer, but have learned a lot through experimentation in the past six years. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve always dreamed of being an NG photographer. I want to live a life that encourages me to explore and contribute and be creative. It would mean the world to me to have an opportunity to work side by side with a seasoned professional. I truly believe I have the heart for this, but I do need some guidance!
