we have arrived in chile and i cannot understand the spanish on this keyboard so am unsure where the caps is.....!!!! oh there it is ¨no lost it again....
had a good flight slept most of the way, couldnt believe it but they still give silver cutlery, no plastic!!!
chris stayed up watching movies so now has crashed out in our room as it is probably about 7am nz time.
am using the hotel internet, which is free = how weird.
have had a shower and thats about it, trying to figure out how many pesos we have and why i can´t use my phone card to ring mum and dad- all in all its feeling easy, but haven´t left the hotel yet!
first mistake of the trip, didnt tip our driver from the airport Oscar = a very nice man who spoke english and was very helpful, that must have been why he hung out at receptyion with us and explaned that in chile you tip, but being tired and little ole NZers we didnt get his now obvious hint and are now wondering if he will in fact come back at the end of the week to take us back to the airport. . . . i am sure it will be easier to tip once we figure out what money we have, dont want to give to much, or not enough and offend someone.
aparently there are 6 million people in santiago, so far it doesnt feel like that at all. although i was a bit disturbed by the housing we saw on the way in, basically shacks made out of tin along a very polluted river. the driver also tried to tell us that the fog was not smog but sea breeze instead = i don´t think so!
Have just been watching Latin American MTV, which is quite funny in english with spanish subtitles. and one of the first things we saw onm the telly was the All Blacks doing the haka on an ad for the rugby world cup!
Anyway I had better get chris up and go outside and see if i can hack it outside the safety of the hotel = would you believe I still dont feel like i have left...
PS sorry Mamma can´t ring you but i am safe and sound, hope you didnt cry to much!!!!
